Send Your Sh*t
A practical guide to submitting your work to literary magazines
Hi friends! I’m holding a free online session for poets and writers who want to understand the submission process and find journals that might suit their work. We’ll start with the basics of submitting and then in the second half, I’ll walk through the path of choosing a journal to preparing a submission. There’ll also be time for questions.
Who this is for
This session is for anyone who is new to submitting, or have submitted before and want to revisit their approach, or even those who are trying to make submitting part of their writing practice.
What you’ll get
Everyone who registers will receive a recording of the session as well as a PDF of the session slides. There’s also a free cover letter template and a Ready-to-Submit mini checklist.
Date: 14 October 2026
Time: 7:00-9:00* PM ET
Where: Online, via Zoom
Cost: Free • Pay what you want
*We aim to end on time, but please leave a little room in your evening in case the Q&A runs over.
Additional Offer
I created a Send Your Sh*t Complete Toolkit that I’m offering for $50. It includes all the free materials, plus:
• A submission tracker in Notion and Google Sheets, which contains sample journal research, acceptance and rejection tabs, and submission calendar dates
• Templates for author bio, withdrawing your work, and replying to acceptances or rejections
• Submission strategy planner
This will be available after the session.
A note from me
I created this session after spending years figuring out the submission process alone, from Manila, Philippines, submitting from outside the system and without a guide that felt written for someone like me. I wanted to make the map I wished I’d had. Submitting your work can be vulnerable. It can also become a way of staying in conversation with your poems and with the journals that may one day hold them. My hope is that you leave with a clearer sense of what to do next, along with a submission practice that gives your writing room to continue.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need to have a finished packet?
No. You can come with one poem, several poems, or a submission history that needs sorting out.
Do I need to have published before?
No. The session includes guidance for first-time submitters but there are also some useful insights even if you’re not new to this.
Do I need an MFA or an agent?
No. Submitting to journals do not require either.
Is the session free?
Yes. There’s an optional tip jar for anyone who’d like to contribute. The Complete Toolkit will also be available for $50.
Will I have to share my writing?
No. You’re welcome to listen and take notes without sharing your work. This is an info session and not a generative workshop.
Will there be time for questions?
Yes. I’ll leave time for a Q&A at the end of the session.
